Technology Blog #2: Building Your Connected Learning Community
Chapter 6, Building Your Connected Learning Community, focuses on building a personal learning network. Building online communities help people share knowledge and increase learning from all over the world. Networks help you to expand your ideas, you should already have a topic that you are focused or interested in. Ultimately networked learning is personal and you also need to be self driven.
When networking, you want to establish relationships with people that have the same goals and/or interests. Having relationships with people whose end goal is similar, can be beneficial because they can share knowledge and learn from each other. Also you want to have a tool. Online platforms like social media help you expand by sharing your name and allowing you to communicate and collaborate with other people. You want to build an online community that is encouraging and beneficial to you and others. In your community you also want to feel safe with making mistakes, since mistakes are how you can learn and grow. In all, you want your community to be relevant, motivated, and encouraging.
Chapter 6 relates to my career psychology, because you want to connect with other people. In psychology you often work as teams, so professionals can benefit from sharing different ideas and knowledge. Professionals in psychology can also benefit from feedback by their peers. With technology and the world evolving, psychology research is constantly changing. Using digital tools and online networks helps professionals from all over the world connect, and share, and provide online services. Therefore, networking is extremely important in the psychology field to make sure research and professionals are up to date.
This is a really good blog. I loved how you connected the ideas in building a personal learning network to psychology. Saying that the collaboration and sharing knowledge are really important in the field you want to go into especially when thinking about how the constant change in different research and practices there is for the future. Good job!
